 We just received this wonderful little YouTube video that Doug and Ana did with the photographs I created for them at their wedding ceremony with us in December.

Ana and Doug eloped with us on the most beautiful morning in December.  They had  a couple of friends and Ana's son.

It's always really fun to see what people do with the images we create for them.  When  you have us photograph you, remember all of our photography sessions include the CD and a copyright release.  You too  can send cards, make DVD's and enlargements. Get creative!

Fall Is Our Favorite Time Of The Year! 

And it's great time to Elope with us...

Jennifer and Donny came from Indiana to spend the week in San Diego and get married and honeymoon. We LOVED her fun, blue dress and beautiful smile... her brother Steve traveled from Los Angeles and the five of us had a wonderful afternoon... seriously fun! Perfect weather and sunset.

The beaches are less crowded, we have beautiful sunsets and the temps are usually pretty mild. 

Okay, this week we hit 100 yesterday, and high 90's the beginning of the week but that's really unusual,  breaking records for November.  It was 93 degrees for Jennifer and Donny, and it's worth repeating, the most beautiful sunset ever.

Here in San Diego we can boast that we have the best weather in country pretty much all year around, that's why it's so perfect for Coronado beach weddings. If it's freezing in Chicago, it's warm here, if it's baking hot in Phoenix, it's mild here... if it's raining in Seattle, it's not raining here.....you get the idea!

We were thrilled to be part of the celebration for Second Chance Dog Rescue Party and Auction as they celebrated finding forever homes for 2000 dogs in just 2 years.  About 200 people attended the event at the San Diego Country Club Saturday night.   We donated a beautiful black and white photograph of "Curly" that we purchased while volunteering at Best Friends Sanctuary in Utah.  It was signed by the photographer Gary Kalpakoff (pictured with his horse).   Curly is one of the VICKtory Dogs rescued from the dog fighting ring of NFL player Michael Vick.  A wonderful story of a second chance.

 

We also got to hear the incredible story of "Nubs" brought back from Iraq by Marine Major Brian Dennis.  This is a dog story to beat all dog stories.  Major Dennis, fed and loved his new friend,  when it was time to leave, he had to make the tough decision to leave the dog behind to fend for himself.  Nubs would have no part of that.... found his way back to the platoon that had traveled over 70 miles away in the snow!

Of course we would have to mention our costumes... did I mention our costumes?

Steve called me his Mrs. "F" all evening.

and getting married this weekend.

Corny as it sounds, it's been said.... the fragrance of a flower lingers on your
hand long after you have given the flower away..

  

Those words probably best describe what it feels like to be part of something so big.  Back in 2005, I was so moved, I found myself heading off to Mississippi to be part of something bigger than my own little world.  To be part of a moment in time when the problems in that corner of our country were so overwhelming, so devastating,  so final for so very many people.  For me, I knew that sending a check in the mail just wasn't an option.   At the time, I had the luxury of having the time and support from my family and friends to be able to help first hand. I had an opportunity to have the adventure of a lifetime,
to take a risk and give with all my heart. I felt it was something I just had to do.

Before leaving for my trip, I organized and gathered donations of baby clothes, diapers, formula and toys for the children I knew I would find on my trip.  I multiplied my efforts by contacting the local radio stations and using my baby photography studio as a drop location.  I used  my connections with other small businesses who were also in the baby world to act as drop locations all over the Seattle area.  Donations poured in.  Continental Airlines allowed me to fly with several dozen boxes of donated items all the way across the United States to my destination for no extra fee. Yippeee!

If there is one thing I've learned about volunteering over the years...it's that you have to check your ego at the door  (and your vanity!!)  Of course there were some bumps, OHMYGOSH, the heat, humidity and the BUGS!!  Not to mention that we only had one shower for the volunteers... that meant showering in a shower that 60 other people had showered in that day... sleeping in a church nursery on the floor.  And did I mention that I had really BIG hair from the humidity !!!  Honestly, I had everything I needed, sunscreen, water and bug spray.  
  
It was easy to keep my eyes on my number one purpose and that was to bring a smile and positive energy to a corner of the world that was in such turmoil.   To people who had lost so much and to the people who were working so hard as volunteers.  I learned to balance taking care of myself and being able to give and share.  
In the end, I took home so much more than I ever thought possible.  People were so grateful and appreciative.  I saw it, day in and day out.  I saw people working and pulling together, the Amish, the Jehovah's Witnesses, and the Atheists... it was a sight to see.  I saw the good instead of the devastation.  There would have been no point to focus on the devastation, that old saying, "it is what it is" was never more true. 
I wasn't sure if I would know when it was time to come home, but I did.  That moment came after nearly two weeks one evening when  I found myself sleeping on two metal chairs pushed together in the basement of a New Orleans church. I had given all I had to give and it felt great!

We couldn't have been happier about how our wedding turned out! It was perfect and exactly what we expected~ thank you so much!  We received the pictures yesterday and I can't tell you how happy we are.

Christine, you captured our day in a way that we will always help us to remember just how perfect and special everything really was.
  Thank you for everything... you have a very special place in my heart!

we celebrate our 23rd wedding anniversary!

Not a day goes by that we don't comment on how lucky we are.  We love that we get to work together everyday, and that we still love each other's company, that we have a life filled with sunshine, laughter and joy.

  

We embrace the work that we love, being part of other couples happiest day.  We love that we have great children..darling grandchildren and 2 hunks of fur called Riley and Daphne and 3 kitties called Tarzan, Beau and Abby.

Ten Couples Married on Coronado Beach-Valentine's Weekend

As we watched the most spectacular sunset on Coronado beach tonight, and recalled our busy weekend, we realized how many couples lives we touch and just how many couples we made super happy this weekend. We had the great feeling of knowing that we had joined ten couples this weekend in marriage! Valentine's Day Weekend 2010. We were part of something people will remember their entire lives. It's a pretty special honor and we don't take it lightly. Here are a few pics to share of our adventures this weekend.
