Summer is flying by!!!

dog rescues in san diego, rescue dogs, rescue dog adoptions, lucky pup dog rescue
dog friendly weddings, lucky pup dog rescue adoption center

The summer is just flying by, can't believe it's been over a month
since I've been here to share.

Another busy summer, and we t
hank all of our couples for making
us San Diego's Most Trusted elopement company!

NINE couples got married this week on Coronado Beach.
We hear all the time how much couples just LOVE that we work
together as a married couple,
because so many of the other "elopement" companies in San Diego
just send random wedding vendors to their weddings.
I guess there is something to be said for
working together as a team :)

Congrats to each one of you,
we know you had a fantastic time
at your wedding because we did too!
And so much fun in San Diego. The weather has been perfect,
well, maybe a little too hot. Sorry about the parking at the hotel.
Thank you for sharing your
happiest day with us!
We were excited to extend 2 military couples our
"$99 Saturday morning" special this week.

When we're not hanging out on the beach with our happy couples,
we rescue shelter dogs!  We talk about it all the time, and hope
we're not boring anyone--

In 2011, we founded our 501c3 non profit dog rescue
and since that time, we've been working to towards opening an adoption center.

So happy to announce that this  month,
we are opening San Diego's FIRST
retail adoption center for shelter dogs!

Lucky Pup Dog Rescue Adoption Center

So exciting, many more lives will be saved by having our pups
seen by more adopters. Those who don't want to go to the shelter
will find groomed, spayed/neutered, microchipped, happy dogs!

Our dogs come from the highest kill shelters in Southern California,
in San Bernardino County and Moreno Valley where
dogs are killed after just a few days of being picked up.
The situation is dire and time is of the essence.

Our grand opening will be on August 30 2-6pm
in UC Marketplace 3855 Governor Drive,
just next door to Sprouts, in the kiosk.
San Diego, California 92122

Thank you to all of our amazing volunteers, donors and adopters.
We love you!
A special thank you to "Chive on California" peeps
who donated over $ 18K to open our center
and support our rescue work
and UC Marketplace owners who donated our space.

We always love to have new dog loving volunteers,
and know that your donations are tax deductible.
When you give to your neighborhood rescues,
your money works in your community.

We offer the exact same tax deduction
as the big box animal organizations
without the overhead they have.

And From The .... "In Our Spare Time"...section

Everyone has a hobby and this is ours!  When we're not at the beach photographing weddings and marrying couples who are eloping with us-- this is what we do to "give back"

We were touched by one of our brides over the weekend by a very generous donation to our dog rescue.  We were so very touched!

So we say....thank you Miss  "D" for the huge donation this weekend to our dog rescue.  We were there to celebrate your day and you made ours.

Thank you!

Our rescue work and elope world COLLIDE !

When Lori and Jason thought about eloping to San Diego, they knew they would love to include a dog in their ceremony.  Since it wasn't possible to bring their own dog, they ask us if we had a dog to spare... and boy do we!!!   We have about a dozen dogs rescued off of death row that are looking for homes.

We immediately thought of  Duffy, who was more than happy to come to dog beach with us and be part of the ceremony.  He loves people, and dogs, and the beach!
(hint.hint. He is also available for adoption.  More info about Duffy here)

Lori and Jason both said they would feel more comfortable and relaxed if they were around dogs, and they didn't even have to explain it to us, we got it !  We live with lots of dogs with the rescue work we do.   We eat, sleep and breath dogs.....in fact, we founded a 501c3 dog rescue in July of last year  "Lucky Pup Dog Rescue".

Thank you Lori and Jason for being so fun to work with AND for thinking of inviting one of our pups to share your day.  Very sweet of you and thank you so much for the donation.

Westminster Says "Shelter Dog" Ads Were Just TOO Sad For Their Audience???

Seems that the Westminster folks don't REALLY care about dogs... oh, unless they are perfect.  Well, their idea of "perfect".    They've pulled Pedigree as a sponsor because they felt ads like this one:

were just too "upsetting" for their audience.  Can you imagine? They said people actually felt like they had to turn their heads or change the station because it was too upsetting. to see dogs behind bars.
What kind of lame reasoning is that for not supporting these dogs who find themselves homeless through no fault of their own?  Turns out that they are in the shelter because their lameass  irresponsible human owners failed them, now it's going to cost 'em their poor little life......who wouldn't want to help a dog in need?  The folks at Westminster turns out... it wouldn't have even cost them any more money to do the right thing.

We thank Pedigree for the work they do and the cause they support.  They are doing the "right" thing and it should be celebrated.  FOUR MILLION dogs and cats are killed with our tax dollars each and every year.  Our throw away society and our throw away pets---that should upset the lazy boy recliner folks watching the Westminster circus...... Just sayin'

We see this day in and day out and it breaks our hearts to know how many dogs that could be helped if we banded together to help solve this problem.

Six MoRe Pups Adopted this week-- Rescued from death row! Before and After...

jackson now!   3 months old
Woof!  Woof!  Something to really howl about this week...

This week we found homes for six more dogs that we rescued on their very last day from a very high kill shelter in San Bernardino about 125 miles from our home. (A shelter with a paltry 25% adoption rate for dogs)

We found incredible, loving homes for Rocket, Bella Bee, Bailey, Harley, Lola and Jackson.  You can see their before and after pics-- you'll be able to see why we do this work and what a change a day can make for these critters.

jackson at the shelter
Harley and Lola are the puppies that were born at the shelter, 5 puppies all together, we  rescued mom and babies just 12 hours after their birth.  All of their brothers and sisters were adopted earlier.  Mom dog, Lulu went to live in Malibu with Connie several weeks ago.  A happily ever after story if there ever was one for each of these dogs.......

Why are we telling you about this?  Because we're SO EXCITED to be able to do this work.  We also wanted you to know that If you are even thinking about a adopting a dog, we have some great ones right now... and if you live far away, please, please  go to your local shelter!  About FOUR MILLION healthy, homeless dogs are killed each year.  You can be part of the solution.  You don't have to be crazy dog people, like us....and have dogs everywhere.  But you can help in other ways.  We have a website with our pups, and a place to donate to help our cause. It's located at: LuckyPupDogRescue.com

We also want you to know that if you can't adopt one of our dogs, or any dog for that matter.  You can help us by sponsoring a dog.  With a monthly donation for food, that's $20.00 or to help us "a dog a month" for $80.00. Wonder what we do with your donations?  Donations to our 501c3 help us with adoption fees, pay vet bills, vaccinations, worming, shampoo, mani's and pedi's, food, toys, blankets, spay/neuter, flea treatments, meds..whew.....

Bailey now
Our fee to rescue a dog is $80.00, that goes to our shelter, and includes the spay/neuter.  Think about this: you could save a shelter dog in honor of your wedding day for $80.00.   How cool would that be?  We'll keep you updated all the way through the process until they are adopted. Think about it.   It's the most fun tax deductible donation you could make all year!

Our next adoption event is THIS SUNDAY, October 30th at the Canine Carnival in Ocean Beach here in San Diego....at the DUSTY RHODES DOG PARK.  10-4.
You can see Maggie, our Senior Bernese Mountain Dog mix, Rosie the Chi, Leon and Jack both Chi's, Holstein and a few others-- all looking for great homes.
